Two men labour to carry faggots of firewood up the slope from a river valley. Despite the title the location is unidentified, although European in character, with a habitation seen on the river bank at centre and a ruined castle further to the right.

Purchased in a lot of eleven unframed etchings by Legros, online from Semley Auctioneers in Shaftsbury, Dorset on 8th November 2025.
