Subject
A topographical depiction of the stream that passes through the town of Salins-les-Bains in the Jura region of France. The stream is known as ‘La Furieuse’ due to floods and landslides which have occurred on numerous occasions over the centuries. In January 1649 the stream was responsible for the destruction of the entire village of Sarcenne (now Cercennes) a few kilometers south of Salins.
